I believe government especially small government should be financially conservative and listen to their constituents. In an expanding and changing community like Etna Township, planning and cooperation are keys to success. The elected officials of the Township must work hand-in-hand with neighboring communities to maximize our financial resources and minimize unnecessary tax increases and negative impacts to our citizens.
Honest dialogue and open debate between the public and all four elected officials in Etna Township need to occur and citizens and businesses need to have input into those discussions so educated decisions can be made.
The protection of our citizens and businesses should be of primary concern. In addition, amenities for our residents are also of concern. When elected, I will recommend the formation of citizen work groups to meet with elected officials to evaluate current services, research options, and make educated and financially sound decisions for the elected officials to consider.
Recent events have proven that decisive rhetoric is dangerous. We see it day in, and day out, broadcast on the news networks and social media that there is such a divide in politics, at all levels. This, in many cases, halts the ability of individuals to work towards common goals that benefit our local communities and our nation. Enough is enough. It is time to turn the tide and elect individuals that can have spirited debates that are passionate but respectful. People who can reach common ground for the greater good. It isn’t about keeping a score card of wins and losses.
